Bill Winlow at the junction of Sidgreaves Lane and Lea Road by Lea Endowed School – Bill says “no developments in this area should be allowed to go forward here if they increase the traffic flow at this dangerous junction”
We all appreciate that the country is short of housing, but we worry about predatory developers trying to develop sites in an opportunistic and premature way – premature because last summer there was no Highways and Transport Masterplan from LCC and no strategic housing plan from Preston, opportunistic because at the time they put in their proposals for land north of Hoyles Lane the summer holidays were on us and Bill Winlow was the only councillor who picked up the problem and alerted residents to the issue. Similarly Bill Winlow worked with local residents in Lea to ensure a big turnout of residents to oppose the “proposed Sites for Preston” at Stoney Butts and West of Dodney Drive.
Now that the Transport Masterplan is here we await the Strategic Housing Plan. Bill says “Lets get the whole strategy right before granting any further planning permissions in either Lea or Cottam”.
