According to the Daily Mail on 22nd Feb county roadas are the deadliest place for drivers.  This will come as no surprise to residenst in Preston West where many rural roads are delimited.  “This is very dangereous” says County Councillor Bill Winlow, “because many drivers seem to think that is is safe to go at high speeds on these roads often endagering the lives of rural communities and live stock.  I have asked LCC Highways to consider serious traffic  calming measures of various sorts on a number of local roads including:

• Sidgreaves Lane,
• Darkinson Lane
• Hoyles lane
• Lea Lane
• Lea Road
• Cottam Way
• Ash Lane.

The standards of driving on some of these roads are very poor, particularly at rush hours”
